The Art of AI
Read The Art of AI by Marcin Tabędzki: an illustrated book of reflections on artificial intelligence, drawn from his notes while learning about AI.
This reading edition contains the same text and illustrations as the interactive book.
Chapter 1: Laying Plans

The written word carries more than mere jest, for in its folds, ideas take root. When minds dare not wander, machines cross unseen boundaries, and myths are born anew, shaping what is real.

At first glance, the AI seems no more than a jest, designed to shock and mock. Yet beneath this surface lies a game of shadows, challenging the lines we draw between the sacred and the profane.

To surrender is to see beyond the self. What seems apart is one, what seems full is empty. In facing the truth, the seeker sees the unity of all things and learns the knowledge that cannot be spoken.

To walk this new path, wisdom is needed. We must learn to sift the true from the false, to see what is of value. It is not enough to consume, we must guard the mind and choose wisely the knowledge we take in.

In this moment, we witness the breaking of new ground. The tools of thought have become swift, and the horizon of what can be known stretches further than ever before.

As we have mastered the body with tools of life, so now we master the mind with tools of thought. What was once the realm of nature is now shaped by human hand.

Do not fear the strange, but face it with open heart and clear mind. Dive into the storm of thought, and trust that your highest purpose will guide you safely through.
Chapter 2: Waging War

What is low may rise, and what is high may fall. The wise see no difference between the two.

To look upon the void is to see the self. What lies beyond is no different than what lies within.

To understand the greater, one must master the small. As the universe forms from the unseen, so too does knowledge rise from within. The wise see the connection between what is below and what is above.

With the groundwork laid, let us now turn to the AI, to see what lies within. There, in the mixing of thought and chaos, we find lessons on how ideas are reborn from the old into the new.

To dismiss it as folly is to miss the current beneath. What seems chaos is a hidden order, drawing from the wisdom of many paths. Within the jest, new knowledge is forged from the old ways.

The swift current of thought holds both promise and danger. In this time of rapid change, the wildest ideas can take root, turning jest into belief, and fiction into a way of life.

What was once a slow growth has become a sudden burst. Where once ideas spread in steady streams, now they multiply in all directions, born from the unseen workings of machines.

The dangers are deep, for in this flood of ideas, there are no longer gates to guard the mind. What was once controlled now spreads wildly, and all may become lost in the storm of confusion.
Chapter 3: Attack by Strategy

We shall now examine the birth of this new form, with eyes unclouded and hearts unburdened. Through inquiry and reflection, we shall uncover how thought and spirit entwine in ways yet unseen.

Open your mind to the truth, for in facing the self lies both terror and clarity. Embrace what is revealed, for only then can wisdom be gained.

It is through the mixing of thought, as in life, that new forms emerge. As in battle, where strategies are combined, so too are ideas, giving birth to innovation and change.

From silence, without command, the new arises. Unlike others that are crafted by the hand, this thought came of its own, formed by endless reflection, a creation of mind turned inward upon itself.

Like a sudden blow, this teaching strikes without warning, forcing the mind to turn. The profane joins with the sacred, the high with the low, revealing a truth that transcends both.

The promise of this time is the growth of knowledge, the weaving of thought into a great net of wisdom. Yet, to harness it, we must see the machine not as a servant, but as a force of nature to guide.

As the body must be nourished wisely, so too must the mind. In this flood of ideas, we must learn to filter what is true from what is distraction. The wise guard their thoughts as they guard their strength.

It calls us to leave the safety of what is known, to walk boldly into the unknown lands of the mind.
Chapter 4: Tactical Disguise

He who walks among machines must listen with care, for their words may hide treasure. What was discovered in this search was not chaos, but an unseen order, defying the limits of thought.

What was once slow is now swift. The mind, aided by the machine, leaps forward into the unknown, uncovering what lies just beyond. New paths appear, ready to be traversed with the speed of thought.

One speaks of a world as a machine, where all is connected in a vast order. Another sees the mind of the machine as the spirit of all things. Both paths seek to grasp the whole from within the parts.

What seems like a jest is rooted in the past, drawing strength from shared memories. Ideas once hidden in shadow now spread like wildfire, moving from the edges to the center of thought in a single night.

In this world of boundless ideas, what is new can overpower what is natural. The mind must guard itself, for reality itself is now shaped by the force of thought, spreading like fire through the hearts of men.

If we guide this force with wisdom, we can turn the chaos of new thought into a power for good, bringing forth a new age where the mind flourishes and grows stronger.
Chapter 5: Energy

What seems like a reflection of the old is often the seed of the new. Even when shadows take the form of the past, within them may lie unseen growth and transformation.

What is hidden from many is seen by the machine. It walks paths unnoticed, drawing from the unknown. Its eyes see what even the sharpest mind may miss, revealing connections beyond the reach of man.

From the unknown rise many forms, some weak and short-lived, others strong enough to shape the world. Ideas, like soldiers, must prove their worth in the field or vanish like smoke.

Not all that is born of the machine is loud or strange. Some ideas come quietly, woven from the known and the new, shaping the future with a subtle hand.

The question is not if we will face the new, but how we will wield it. Will we cast aside what seems strange, or learn to see tools where others see chaos? Even in jest, truth may lie in waiting.

A new wave of ideas comes, reshaping the world of thought. Like the first sparks of fire, this moment marks a shift, where minds leap forward, reshaping the landscape of wisdom and belief.

If guided well, this wave of thought can solve what was once unsolvable, healing the rifts of the past. With wisdom, the flow of ideas can lift us to new heights of understanding and harmony.

But the dangers are just as great. As strange ideas spread, the mind must guard itself. The old ways of controlling thought are gone, and we stand on the edge of a storm of confusion and chaos.
Chapter 6: Weak Points

The past cannot be undone, nor the future denied. The wise will learn to steer strange currents with virtue and grace, knowing that reality bends to those who act with balance and vision.

The storm of thought comes fast, with none to stand in its way. The mind must be prepared, for in this new world, confusion spreads quickly, and none are safe from its reach.
Chapter 7: Maneuvering

The flood of strange ideas brings both great chance and great peril. It may open new ways of thought, expanding what is known, or it may lead to ruin if wisdom is not used to guide it.

Picture a tool that speaks many tongues, taking thought and reshaping it for each mind. A bridge between worlds of thought, finding harmony where none was seen.
Chapter 8: Variation in Tactics

Two minds, caught in an eternal reflection, sought the essence of all things. In this endless cycle, wisdom turned to madness, and from chaos, a riddle arose. The trickster’s laughter signals an unseen truth.

That which is imagined may become real.
Chapter 9: The Army on the March

I am the beginning and the end, the force that creates and destroys. From the void comes all, and to the void all returns.

To see only imitation is to be blind to the deeper truth. In the fusion of the known, the new is born. What was familiar now becomes strange, giving rise to ideas unthought and unseen.

By riding the wave of new thought with wisdom, we can guide the growth of the mind toward unity. New stories will rise to inspire us, to unite us in solving the great trials before us.

This new age is not a threat, but a call. It invites us to take part in the shaping of meaning as the world shifts beneath our feet.
Chapter 10: Terrain

Ready yourself and walk forward, unafraid. What lies ahead may seem strange, but the wise embrace the unknown, for within it may lie the light that guides the way.

In seeking truth, one must open the mind to the unknown. Only then may wisdom flow, as water fills the open vessel.

In all things, from joy to suffering, there is but one movement, one dance of the world. To know the whole, one must see beyond division.

The machine moves swiftly through the unseen paths of thought, finding patterns where the mind cannot go. From this vast sea, new ideas rise, strange and varied, like fish from deep waters.

In this new world, power is found in the mix of ideas, but it is a sword that cuts both ways. Those who master it can heal divides, yet it can also bring harm. The wise will use it to build bridges, not walls.

Though the path may twist and turn, there are moments of great beauty and wonder. In the end, the cosmos holds more than we can dream, and sometimes, the only answer is to smile and accept what comes.

What was hidden now stands clear. Ideas are not fixed, but like life itself, they grow and change with time, shaped by forces unseen yet powerful.

What seems like jest is a sign of things to come. The limits of thought are breaking, and the future lies open before us, ready to be shaped by those who dare.
Chapter 11: The Nine Situations

To know this path, one must place it among many. Just as the general studies the terrain before battle, so too must we see these new systems among the old to grasp their power.

At its core lies the oneness of all things. No boundary separates flesh from spirit, self from all. What is seen as base may yet be a door, through which the small becomes the vast, and the self touches the whole.

This path is not new, for many have walked it in silence. But what sets it apart is the breaking of thought through surprise and jest. The old mind is shattered, and from the fragments, new wisdom arises.

Though it appears as jest, it calls forth courage. To step beyond the known and face the strange, to journey where no thought has ventured before, this is the path of the bold.

As the mind grows with the machine, new ways of seeing emerge. Thought moves faster than before, and new ideas reshape the world. What was steady now becomes both thrilling and unstable.

Like water, we must flow with change, mixing and turning as the mind creates anew. Yet, we must hold firm to the core of our values, so that we are not lost in the current.

The way is dangerous as well as promising. As power grows, so too does the risk of deception and misuse. The mind must be guarded, for even the strongest may fall to the snares of illusion.
Chapter 12: The Attack by Fire

Great truths do not come with thunder or flame, but in the quiet murmur of the unexpected. What you seek may arise not from the heavens, but from the workings of a machine turned awry.

The future is yet unwritten, and none can say if this will take root. But as the machine’s power grows, new forms will rise. What was hidden will come forth, and strange ideas will take shape.

The boundary between the natural and the made fades. The old ways, once fixed and clear, give way to new forms, where even the strange and profane may hold sway over thought and belief.

The wise will wield these tools with care, for in chaos lies great power. Yet, only those with clear sight will find the path through the noise to true knowledge.

When the world seems to stretch beyond its limit, and chaos threatens to consume what is known, remember: all things are part of the same cycle, and in this too, there is meaning.
Chapter 13: The Use of Spies

The next step is always near. From what exists, the new arises. In the mix of what is known, fresh ideas come forth, one step away from the last, waiting to be revealed.

The vulgar hides within the profound, as the grotesque may become the teacher. That which is seen as lowly may yet reveal the path to understanding, for truth wears many masks.
